Emily Hanisco | Therapist for women with anxiety in Washington

Hi, I’m Emily.

I’m so glad you’re here.

As someone whose emotions ran their life for many years, I know what it’s like to be totally overwhelmed by feelings. My struggle with anxiety caused my life to be unmanageable at times and negatively impacted my relationship with others, and most importantly, my relationship with myself. Once I learned how to connect with my emotions and use them as a guide instead of allowing them to be in control, I was able to trust my own intuition and ability to make good decisions in order to live my life with purpose and authenticity. Because I’ve come out on the other side, I know you can, too.

Therapy with me will be a place where you can experience emotional empowerment so feelings are no longer something to avoid or dwell on. I aim to create a space where you can come exactly as you are, and feel safe enough to step out and take risks to cultivate lasting change.

I practice from an integrative approach, which is basically a fancy way of saying that my treatment modalities are tailored to you and your unique experience. Some of my most used approaches come from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Brainspotting, and Mindfulness-based Interventions.

Right now I am living in Japan with my partner who serves in the military. While I am not physically located in Washington, I am dedicated to staying up to date on local resources to share with my clients.

When I’m not doing therapy, you can find me listening to music, trying new recipes, going on walks with my therapy pup, Bear, or reading a good romance novel.
